Adventure Club

Ready for Adventure?

The Bible places a high value on the instruction and upbringing of a child. In the Old Testament, the Israelites were commanded by God to diligently teach their children the Law, so that they may fear God rightly. Proverbs 22:6 instructs parents to “train up a child in the way he should go.” In the New Testament, the apostle Paul commands fathers to bring up their children “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). As a church, it is critical for us to come alongside the parents and encourage them as they seek to raise their children in a godly manner. In Ephesians 4, Paul emphasizes the importance of the local church edifying one another and encouraging one another in the Lord, which includes edifying and encouraging parents.

Unfortunately, these principles have been disregarded by mainstream Christianity. Children are taught watered down theology, and the Bible has been replaced by politically correct stories which are meant to teach moral goodness, rather than biblical faithfulness. Mid-week youth programs emphasize gaining achievements instead of godly living, and parents are left without any guidance on how to help their child grow in faith.

This is where the Adventure Club curriculum stands apart. It is designed to teach children and teens biblical theology in an age-appropriate manner. There are 3 years in the curriculum, with each year focusing on different aspects of theology. This upcoming year, the kids will be taught about God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They will be encouraged to memorize key Bible verses, with a particular emphasis on understanding the meaning and importance of those verses, and how to live them out in Christ.

The Adventure Club curriculum is also a unified curriculum, which means that each age group is learning the same material at the same time, but at an appropriate maturity level for their age. Additionally, MVBC will have a parent Bible study during Adventure Club which will be going through the same lessons that the kids are learning. Through this, we hope to unify the family around the Word of God and equip parents to instruct their children in biblical truth.
